Athletics Career Highlights
Yelena Isinbayeva, Russia Born : 1982 in Volgograd. Breaking the world record for fun, Isinbayeva recaptured the dominance of Sergei Bubka. Olympic champion in 2004 she continued her total supremacy with further world records in 2005 and becoming the first woman to vault 5.0 metres.  World Championship gold with another world record reinforced her absolute authority over all other vaulters. She achieved a double World title in 2007. In 2008 her superiority was reinforced by retaining her Olympic title and raising the World Record to 5.05 metres with her gold medal vault. Despite "no-heighting" at the 2009 World Championships, she re-established her dominance with a new world record at a Grand Prix meet. A two year "slump" followed but in 2012 Olympic Year she re-discovered her form aqnd Brokie her own World indoor record.
