| Laure Manaudou, France | Born : 1986 in Villeurbanne, France. 2004 Olympic, World and European 400 metres Freestyle Champion. Lead the revival of French swimming hopes. In 2006 she broke the World Record for 400 metres Freestyle 3 times and won 4 Golds at the European Championships. She held world records for 400 and 800 metres Freestyle (short course). In 2007 she claimed the 200 metres Freestyle (long course) world record. At the age of 22 she announced her retirement but returned 3 years later. In the 2012 European Short Course Championships she won gold in the 50 metres backstroke. |
