Swimming Career Highlights
Federica Pellegrini, Italy Born : 1988 in Mirano, Italy. A Freestyle specialist at 200 and 400 metres and a world record holder at both distances. Her 200 metres world record set in 2009 still stands. Olympic champion at the shorter event and she achieved the double gold at the Rome World Championships in 2009. She retained both titles in 2011becoming the first woman to achieve the double double. Although she continued to dominate on the European scene for many years she confounded expectations at the 2017 World Championships by regaining the 200 metres from the American superstar Ledecky.
