| Justine Henin, Belgium | Born : 1982 in Liege, she has used her small frame to develop a game to compete with the power of the Williams sisters. A consistent ground stroker who has all court agility and good tactical awareness. Winner of seven Majors and crowned Olympic champion on her return after injury. After further injury forced her to retire in 2006 Australian Open final she re-established her authority on clay with her third French title in four years and ended the year No1. In 2007 she won her third French Open in a row and her first US Open. World No 1 was secured with victory in WTA Championship. She surprisingly retired in 2008 citing personal problems. A return to competitive tennis has been successful. |
